I take medication for my ADHD, Have since I was about seven years old, though I was never good at taking it regularly until I moved out on my own post college.
This week I had to ration my meds due to office closures for 4th of July, which led to a bit of an interesting case study where for the first time in two years, I was off of my meds for four days in a row without having to go to work.
Results
- Memory was very moment to moment, as soon as i moved to a new subject all previous memory evaporates
- According to my partner this did lead to me appearing more carefree and less worried than usual
- However it also meant I couldn’t remember what I wanted to do
- I was more functional around other people than by myself
- Around others I was high energy and goofy
- When I was alone I was incredibly low energy and out of it
- Spent 4 hours unable to do anything
- I also took regular naps about an hour after waking up
I definitely still prefer being on my meds, but it is interesting information to have.
